Winterhawks 6 – Warriors 3

It was pretty much the Ty Rattie – Ryan Johansen – Sven Bartschi show at the Crushed Can last night in Moose Jaw.  The line added up to 3-5-8 points on the night and they were dangerous every time they had the puck.  It was fun to watch them move the puck and create chances by using their speed and driving to the net at every opportunity.

Rattie has now inched to within two points of the WHL lead with 38 points in 22 games.  The 38 points is a new career high for Rattie as he surpasses the 37 points he put up as a 16 year old rookie in 61 games last year.  He now has points in 18 of the 22 games played this year including six one point games, seven two point games, three three point games, one four point game and one five point game.  Fairly impressive.

Not to be outdone is Mr. Reliable Sven Bartschi.  He has points in 20 of the 22 games and his personal point streak has hit 16 games.  The streak is the longest since Todd Robinson had an 18 game streak in 1997-98 and a 17 game streak in 1996-97.

Rattie’s two biggest production nights have fallen in the middle of the month…he had a five point game in Kamloops on 10/15 and a four point game last night in Moose Jaw on 11/15.   The Hawks take on the Kamloops Blazers on 12/15 at the Rose Garden if you were wondering.

It was the final game for the Hawks at the Crushed Can in Moose Jaw and they go out in winning fashion.  I’m going to miss the old building (which will most likely be torn down to make room for retail space) and it’s low ceiling and other oddities.  It has character and history…hard to replicate in a new building.

The Hawks last victory in Moose Jaw was exactly four years ago…11/15/06, a 4-3 win.
