“East bound and down, loaded up and truckin’,
we’re gonna do what they say can’t be done.
We’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I’m east bound, just watch ol’ “Bandit” run.”
(Lyrics by Jerry Reed)
This has become the official theme song for the road trip the Portland Winterhawks have embarked on and as of this evening, the team pulled into snowy Swift Current. Now it feels like November in Saskatchewan with the snow flying and the first long stretch of bus travel is over with for a few days.
I was going to post some pics…but my new computer needs a different memory card holder, so I’ll have to go look for that tomorrow…and then I can post some pics.
For today, the team left Fernie, BC, this morning and headed East to Lethbridge where they went through a full practice. It was good for the players to get their legs moving and the bus heads thinking as they ran through the drills at the rink where the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns play.
After a bite of lunch, off for the four hour jaunt to Swift (with a Tim Horton’s top in Medicine Hat)…unload the bus, then dinner and now they get ready to take on the Swift Current Broncos…game time is 5:00 Pacific time, but the broadcast on Freedom 970 will be tape delayed until 6:00. I’ll do my best to post some photos tomorrow…
