Provincial Camp News…

A bit late reporting this, but each of the respective Canadian provinces held camps earlier this spring for both U17 and U16 programs for selecting players to attend the provincial camps later this summer.  All but Alberta have named the camp rosters, but the Hawks had two players take part in the regional camps in Alberta to hopefully make the top 80 to attend the provincial camp.

Here is a breakdown of Hawks prospects that have been selected:

Alberta:

U17:

Adam de Champlain – 10th Round 2009

Adam Tambellini – Listed Player

U16:

Presten Kopeck – 3rd Round 2010

Wyatt Noskey – 5th Round 2010

British Columbia:

U17:

Troy Stecher – 7th Round 2009

Brayden Low – 7th Round 2009

U16:

Nicolas Petan – 1st Round 2010

Steen Cooper – 4th Round 2010

Dylan Bowen – 7th Round 2010

Manitoba:

U17:

Brendan Leipsic – 6th Round 2009

U16:

Paul Stoykewych – 2nd Round 2010

Saskatchewan:

U17:

Derrick Pouliot – 1st Round 2009

Taylor Leier – 2nd Round 2009

U16:

Branden Scheidl – 4th Round 2010

The Hawks did host a prospect camp this past weekend in Calgary and had 23 players in attendance.  It was a chance for the staff to get to know the players a little better and vice versa.  I talked to Mike Johnston a bit today and he was quite happy with the way the camp went and the depth that is accumulating on the 50 man protected list.

This is a great chance for the ’94 and ’95 born players to get prepared for the Hawks main camp in August as well as learning more about the Winterhawks organization and the WHL.

There are starting to be more and more articles on the upcoming NHL draft and the eligible Hawks are starting to get some press as well.

Don’t forget to RSVP for the NHL Draft Party on Friday, June 25th, at 3:00 at Buffalo Wild Wings by going to the Hawks website.

Oh, and if you’re in Los Angeles for the draft and need something to do during the day of the 25th…you can always go see Rush get their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  The ceremony will be at 11:30 AM on that Friday at 6752 Hollywood Blvd, near McCadden Place.

Just sayin’…
