2010 Bantam Draft Thread…

1st Round – Nic Petan – Center – North Shore Winter Club- 5’6″ 133

2009-10 — NSWC — 57 GP, 76-63-139

From everything I’ve read, Petan could be the most skilled forward available in the WHL Bantam Draft this year.  I’ve seen his size listed from the listing above to 5’8″ 150…so, take that above with a grain of salt.  He recently took part in the U16 BC Cup and this report came from the “Coming Down the Pipe” blog and website (link to the left) from April 21st:

“Nicolas Petan was the most skillful player according to a few WHL scouts. The five-foot-seven 150-pound centre from North Delta was among the top point getters. Petan finished tied for second in the tournament with four goals and six points.”

2nd Round – Paul Stoykewych – Defense – Winnipeg Monarchs – 5’11 165

2009-10 – Winnipeg Monarchs – 30 GP, 10-25-35, 32 PIM

A left hand shooting defenseman from Winnipeg, here is a scouting report from Peg City Hockey News:

“Stoykewych is a solid defenseman who has the ability to make great first passes, and at times carry the puck. His hockey sense is high, with a great vision of the ice.”

3rd Round – Brendan Burke – Goaltender – PF Changs U16 – 6’0 153

Hawks trade up to #49 to take Burke (son of NHL’er Sean Burke)…swapping the 67th pick in the fourth round and the 102nd pick in the fifth round with Regina.
