Game 3 Pre-Game…

In the Vancouver hotel a little over an hour before the bus will head over to the Pacific Coliseum to prepare for Game 3 between the Portland Winterhawks and Vancouver Giants.

It’s been a normal road trip game day for the team…team breakfast, head to rink for workout and skate, back to the hotel for meetings and afternoon meal and then back to the rooms to prepare and rest for tonight’s game.

The team held a spirited practice yesterday morning before loading the bus and heading north.  The players seemed loose and ready for the challenge ahead of them as they, for the second time this postseason, find themselves in a 2-0 hole with three games looming on the road.   Having done it once doesn’t make it any easier to face the second time, however, and the Giants are going to be a formidable foe.

I was commenting about the similarities in the first round series with Spokane and the first round in 2006 and I found another similarity in Round 2.  Prior to Game 5 in Vancouver, I traveled to the game with Scooter and John Kirby and in our hotel we watched “Apocalypse Now” the evening before the game.   Yesterday, the movie on the bus was “2012”…a movie about the Apocalypse.  I’m hoping the result will be different than Game 5 for the Hawks tonight.

Tonight’s broadcast will be on Freedom 970 KCMD with the pre-game show starting at 6:40 with myself and Todd Vrooman.  Unfortunately, no Scooter or John Kirby on the wireless mic tonight, but we’ll still have post-game interviews at ice level after the game.
