Entertaining Win…

I write this from our hotel in Wenatchee, WA, as we travelled here last night after the Hawks 5-4 come from behind shootout victory over the Kelowna Rockets at Prospera Place.

The game itself, while not a masterpiece, was highly entertaining with both teams playing with speed and tenacity creating some high energy exchanges and a lot of near misses at both ends.   Mac Carruth was solid in getting his second career WHL win, including stopping 2 of 3 in the shootout.

Quietly, Oliver Gabriel has been an over a point a game guy, posting 4-6-10 in his last eight games, scoring two pretty goals last night.  Gabes has brought an extra spark to the lineup since his return from the spleen injury and his presence has been noticed every game, including getting recognized as the second star in the building last night.

For their efforts, the team was rewarded with a double-feature on the bus between Kelowna and Wenatchee and it was back-to-back suspense/horror films with “Paranormal Activity” and “Quarantine” that brought their fair share of gasps and reactions from the boys on the bus.

Tonight, well…it will be a tough game for sure against the Tri City Americans.  The Hawks are looking for their first win over the Ams this season…might as well be tonight.  Game time is 7:00 with the pre-game show starting at 6:40 on Freedom 970 AM.
