Mucha Gets Invite…

Mucha I received word last night from the Mucha family that Hawks goaltender Kurtis Mucha has received an invite from the Edmonton Oilers to attend their training camp in September.

Mucha attended the Phoenix Coyote camp last fall.

Mucha holds the Hawks all-time goaltending records for games played (197), minutes played (11,064) and saves (5,598) and is closing in on all-time WHL marks in these categories as well.  He needs 36 more appearances, 1,710 minutes played and 1,360 saves to set the WHL marks.

Mucha joins Brett Ponich (St. Louis), Tayler Jordan (Columbus), Spencer Bennett (Calgary) and Travis Ehrhardt (signed with Detroit) as players currently scheduled to attend NHL camps in September.

  1. Hey Andy, I hear Kurtis and some of the other boys are already in town and skating at Sherwwod at 1:30 each afternoon this week preparing for Winterhawks camp. People could probably go by and take a look to see who is here and how they look.

  2. Fantastic news – thanks for sharing! He deserves the opportunity for sure. I knew Mucha held the Hawks records but I didn’t know he was closing in on the WHL records as well….cool stuff.

  3. Andy,
Luke will be heading off too the NY Ranger camp also
