Hawks Notes: Kelowna @ Portland – February 16, 2009


Previous Game – Portland 2 @ Seattle 7: The Portland Winter Hawks grabbed an early lead in the second period, but the Seattle Thunderbirds scored the final six goals to defeat the Hawks by a score of 7-2 at the ShoWare Center in Kent on Saturday night. Colin Reddin scored in the first period for Portland and Chris Francis added a goal in the second period for Portland to give the Hawks a 2-1 lead two minutes into the second period. Seattle got two goals from Greg Scott and Jim O’Brien in the victory while Prab Rai added one goal and three assists for the Thunderbirds.  Jeremy Boyer and Erik Fleming also got goals for Seattle. Ian Curtis started in net for Portland, stopping 22 of 26 shots before giving way to Kurtis Mucha who stopped 15 of 18 in 27 minutes of action.  Calvin Pickard made 27 saves on 29 shots for Seattle. On special teams, Seattle went 3 for 4 on the power play while Portland went 0 for 7 with a short-handed goal against


Team Notes: Portland is (14-38-2-2); (8-17-2-1) at home (2-4-0-0 in Rose Garden); (6-21-0-1) on the road. The Hawks last home win was on February 6, a 3-1 win over Tri City. The last road win was on February 10, a 5-1 win over Prince George.
