Woke up this morning to some heavy snowfall in Kelowna, the picture is from my fifth floor balcony at the Coast Capri Hotel. It is still falling, but the weather report says it is supposed to warm up to 8 degrees celsius tomorrow with rain.
But, enough about the weather…
Nothing like a little Internet fodder to get everyone going. I’d comment on the situation but there really isn’t anything to comment on as far as Tomas Vosvrda goes.
The four players that were gone at tournaments – Radim Valchar, Brad Ross, Troy Rukowski and Keith Hamilton – all made it to Kelowna yesterday and this morning. All but Ross practiced today as he blocked a shot of his teammates in the first period of the final game at the World U17’s and was a bit banged up. That is why he didn’t see the ice for more than a couple of shifts in the gold medal game. It isn’t anything that will be long term, but his status for this week’s games is up in the air.
The team took in a practice at the Prospera Centre both yesterday and today and here is a photo of Mike Johnston preparing for a drill with his team.
It was a fast paced, spirited practice that focused on speed and drive. The team is ready to get after Kamloops tomorrow night after three off-days on the road.
The Blazers have been a bit up-and-down of late – getting trounced by Moose Jaw at home, beating Vancouver at the Pacific Coliseum and then losing to Seattle at the new ShoWare Center is Kent.
Speaking of Seattle, they are due to arrive in Kelowna sometime today…and they are expected to stay in the same hotel as us. Should make for some interesting passes in the hallways…
Seattle plays Kelowna tomorrow night…
There were a few raised eyebrows for the players after practice when I got the text that Everett had dealt Kyle Beach and Mike Alexander to Lethbridge for Alex Theriau, Dan Iwanski and a 1st Rounder in 2009.
I’ll miss Beach…he was always entertaining, but usually not in the right way for Everett.
Someone inquired about Brock Cornish and he is in Vancouver getting his shoulder evaluated by the Doctor that did the surgery on the same shoulder. I haven’t heard any news on that evaluation, but it will be at least a few weeks out of the line-up.
Also, regarding Jonathan Milhouse…if you missed my pre-game show the other night…he has left the team and his status his up in the air right now…I can’t really add anything more than that.
Thats it for now…
