Hawks Notes: Seattle @ Portland – November 29, 2008


Previous Game – Portland 0 @ Everett 3:  The Portland Winter Hawks road woes continued on Friday night as the Everett Silvertips got 22 saves from Shayne Barrie and they knock off the Hawks 3-0 in front of 5,543 at the Comcast Arena in Everett. Portland has now lost six in a row, all on the road.  Everett got a goal in each period, all even-strength, by Jesse Burt in the opening period, by Byron Froese in the middle period, and Graham Potuer in the third.  Kurtis Mucha went the distance in net for Portland, stopping 24 of 27 shots in the loss.  On special teams, Portland went 0 for 3 on the power play while Everett went 0 for 2.


Team Notes:  Portland is (7-20-0-0); (4-6-0-0) at home; (3-14-0-0) on the road.  The Hawks last home win was on November 15, 2008, a 4-3 win over Tri City.  The last road win was on November 7, 2008, a 2-1 win over Spokane.  This is the first Rose Garden game since 3/17/07, a 4-3 win over Seattle.  The Hawks all-time record in the Rose Garden is 92-71-15-5-2.

  1. Not sure if it was only me but the FM retransmitter was not working in the Rose Garden. Was there others or did I miss something?

  2. It was nice to see a hockey in the Rose Garden, I almost forgot how good the Garden is for hockey. The Hawks played good except for the first 10 minutes of the second period. The best line of the night belong to the hawks….. the Hutt, Reddin and Ross line created a lot of good opportunities, and good scoring chances.

    It was good to see Ryan Kerr get into a little fight and then scream at the Hawks bench, telling them to get in the game. Good leadership, the Hawks were horrible in the 2nd period, until the Kerr fight and the challenge to HIS BENCH! THe Hawks responded, not scoring but playing much better!

    I will have some random thoughts later
