The Video Evidence…

Quite the comeback last night…I’ll have more thoughts later this afternoon, but for now, enjoy the Hawk highlights from last night…

  1. It was nice to see that Chris Francis got credit later on for the work he did on Walker’s shortie. The assist was well deserved.

    Good Win!

  2. AK, did you get any better information on the Ponich goal that was waved off? The officials have always been considered part of the rink, so why wave off the short handed goal if it did go off one of them?

Other then that the third was very exciting and shows that the team can play like that. Now they need to be more consistent and play that way for the full 60 minutes.

Nice to see a winning record under Coach Johnston and company.

  3. Here is the rule directly from the WHL Rule Book on the WHL Website:

78.5 Disallowed Goals – Apparent goals shall be disallowed by the Referee and the appropriate announcement made by the Public Address Announcer for the following reasons:
    (i) When the puck has been directed, batted or thrown into the net by an
attacking player other than with a stick.
(ii) When the puck has been kicked using a distinct kicking motion.
(iii) When the puck has deflected directly into the net off an official.
    etc. (added)

Too bad! I had hoped it woulda’ been a goal! But great third period – and Luke’s goal was GREAT!

  4. Ironic that after the Press Conference at BWW, we were sitting in our booth thinking 6 points in 5 games was possible. After all, we had Edmonton and Red Deer on home ice, and maybe we could pick up a point or two against TC, Spo or Kam.

  5. I’m thinking about changing my newspaper subscription to the Tribune. They actually had a reporter that showed up, watched the team, interviewed the team, commented on the good things, and printed an actual story and not just a recap.

  6. THE THIRD PERIOD PERFORMANCE REMINDED ME OF THE KAMLOOPS MAJOR PENALTY ON DAN WOODLEY THAT WE CAME BACK FROM A 5-2 DEFECIT AND WON THE GAME. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE HERE WAS, NO MAJOR PENALTY. I TOLD MY FRIEND AFTER 2 PERIODS “WE CAN CATCH 5-2, BUT NOT 6-2”. AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED. I LIKE THE DIRECTION THINGS ARE BEGINNING TO GO!!!

  7. I still don’t believe what I saw last night.

That’s the first time in nearly 3 years that I’ve not only left
the rink happy but with a happy tear in my eye.

    Thanks, Hawks. Keep it up.

  8. Wow, good job hawks, thanks for posting the video too. i hope this is a sign of things to come from the new management. wins, and coming into the 20th century!
