Busy Day…

It’s been a long day as I caught a 7:00 AM flight into Spokane to make some sales calls and my three meetings turned into four…but, you don’t care about that…

The team arrived sometime tonight (as their bus is across the street from where I’m staying) and they should be ready to hopefully make amends for the home loss to Edmonton on Wednesday night.  The Hawks played very well for stretches against the Oil Kings, but they also had stretches where they played very poorly.

That is to be expected from game to game as the players adjust to the new systems and coaching style of Mike Johnston and Travis Green, but I don’t think it will be tolerated for long.  I fully expect the roster to have some paring down as early as next week, after this four game in five night stretch.  Some players will rise to the challenge of being evaluated this closely, some won’t.

It’s going to be an interesting week, thats for sure.

There was a lot of talk last night about the Lethbridge/Tri City deal that brings Mitch Fadden back to the U.S. Division.  He certainly brings a high skill level and an offensive threat every night.  But, he also has a reputation for off-ice antics and it will be interesting to see how that plays out.  He is only a part-year player as an overage, so, the Ams won’t have to worry as much as if he was a 17 year old.

The Everett Silvertips got a decent return for the previously disgruntled Matt Ius, getting a 5th rounder from the Swift Current Broncos.

Ius always had potential, but it was unfulfilled in Everett, maybe he’ll find it in the prairies.

I have a busy schedule this weekend, so most likely blog updates will be limited to game notes.  I’ll post some weekend wrap up thoughts early next week.
