Hawks Notes: Portland @ Saskatoon – October 22, 2008

 

Previous Game – Portland 0 @ Prince Albert 7:  The Prince Albert Raiders would score four power play goals and Steven Stanford would stop 24 shots to defeat the Portland Winter Hawks by a score of 7-0 on Tuesday night at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert.  The Hawks remain winless on the road this season and have now been shut out in five games.  Brandon Herrod led the Raiders with 1 goal and 2 assists, while Matt Robertson (1 goal, 1 assist), Matt Robertson (2 assists) and Justin Bernhardt (2 assists) each had multiple point games.  The Raiders would also get goals from Jordan Kochan, Dustin Cameron, Jordan Hickmott, Ryan Harrison and Andy Smith.  The Raiders would finish 4 for 7 on the power play while Portland went 0 for 3.  Kurtis Mucha stopped 30 of 37 shots in the loss for Portland.

Team Notes:  Portland is (1-10-0-0); (1-4-0-0) at home; (0-6-0-0) on the road.  The Hawks last home win was on September 21, 2008, a 2-1 win over Kelowna.  The last road win was on January 16, 2008, a 3-2 SO win over Prince George. 

Portland vs. Saskatoon:  This is the first and only meeting between the two teams this season.  Last season, Portland won the only meeting in Portland by a score of 4-2, outshooting the Blades by a margin of 34-31.  The last Hawk win in Saskatoon was on 1/19/01 by a score of 1-0.

    Hope you don’t get a nose bleed during the broadcast tonight, I have a feeling the Hawks plays tough in front of the rookie goalie tonight. Maybe even escape with a “W”. That will make the bus trip a lot shorter.
