Portland vs. Prince Albert…Game Notes…

Hawks Notes: Portland @ Prince Albert – October 21, 2008

 

Previous Game – Portland 4 @ Moose Jaw 5:  The Portland Winter Hawks scored three third period goals, two by Brad Ross, but fell one goal shy as they lose to the Moose Jaw Warriors by a score of 5-4 on Saturday night at the Civic Centre in Moose Jaw.  Killian Hutt would get his first career WHL goal for Portland on the power play, and he picked up an assist for a two point night.  Radim Valchar would get the other goal for the Hawks.  The first of Ross’ goals was a power play marker.   Moose Jaw got goals from five different scorers, Brian Sommers, Riley Grantham, Quinton Howden, Ryan Stanton and Brayden Metz.  Howden added an assist for a two point night.  Grantham’s goal was short-handed while Howden’s goal came on the power play.  Kurtis Mucha stopped 29 of 34 shots in net for Portland while Deven Dubyk stopped 20 of 24 for the Warriors.  Portland finished 2 for 10 on the power play while Moose Jaw went 1 for 3.

Team Notes:  Portland is (1-9-0-0); (1-4-0-0) at home; (0-5-0-0) on the road.  The Hawks last home win was on September 21, 2008, a 2-1 win over Kelowna.  The last road win was on January 16, 2008, a 3-2 SO win over Prince George. 

Portland vs. Prince Albert:  This is the first and only meeting between the two teams this season.  Last season, Prince Albert won the only meeting in Portland by a score of 4-2, outshooting the Hawks by a margin of 46-44.  The last Hawk win in Prince Albert was on 1/8/05 by a score of 3-2.

  1. Once again the PK unit is horrible. Watching or listening the the Hawks is just as painful as watching Washington State Cougar Football. Its sad and embarassing.

    how many players on the Winterhawk roster right now, would be in the league if the Hawks did not have their rights? my guess is 6.
