Hawks Notes: Portland @ Moose Jaw – October 18, 2008

 

Previous Game – Portland 1 @ Brandon 5:  Jay Fehr had two goals and two assists to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 5-1 win over the Portland Winter Hawks at the Westman Place in Brandon.  Scott Glennie and Brayden Schenn both had three point nights with a goal and two assists each.  Jesse Hall scored the other goal for Brandon.  Portland’s lone goal came from Luke Walker, who scored his third goal in four games for Portland, set up by Radim Valchar and Brett Ponich.  Kurtis Mucha went the distance in net for Portland, stopping 41 of 46 shots in the loss while James Priestner stopped 21 of 22 in net for Brandon.  Brandon went 3 for 6 on the power play while Portland went 0 for 4.

Team Notes:  Portland is (1-8-0-0); (1-4-0-0) at home; (0-4-0-0) on the road.  The Hawks last home win was on September 21, 2008, a 2-1 win over Kelowna.  The last road win was on January 16, 2008, a 3-2 SO win over Prince George. 

Portland vs. Moose Jaw:  This is the first and only meeting between the two teams this season.  Last season, Moose Jaw won the only meeting in Portland by a score of 4-3.  The last Hawk win in Moose Jaw was on 11/25/06 by a score of 4-3.

  3. I’M REALLY GOING TO ENJOY WATCHING BRAD ROSS AND KILIAN HUTT DEVELOP. WHEN I SAW HUTT AT THE HOME ICE PRE-SEASON WIN OVER SEATTLE, I SAW MOVES I HADN’T SEEN A LONG TIME BY ANYBODY. MAYBE MIKE COMRIE.
    KILLIAN HUTT IS MEDICINE HATS LOSS AND OUR GAIN. I COULD SEE HIM WEARING #8 IN THE FUTURE IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
