Sale approved…

I have it upon good authority that the sale of the Portland Winter Hawks has been approved by an unanimous vote of the Western Hockey League Board of Governors.

I don’t have anything else to report at this time, but I will see what I can dig up for the pre-game show.

I was hoping that the Brandon station would carry the entire press conference, but no such luck.

  1. So… you stayin’?

  2. Better stick around if you can, Andy. You’re going to be our major source of contact. We’ll be relying on ya…….

  3. ABOUT TIME. MAYBE THERE IS A SPIRITUAL FORCE AROUND THIS ORGANIZATION THAT WANTS IT TO SUCCEED!!!!!!

  4. GO HAWKS GO

  5. Sounds like an Owner with Hockey Heart for sure! Yes, there will be changes, but “change” can be good. We have a great team, we see how they are working and handling the puck better, now we need their spirits lifted too. It has to be hard sometimes to even “get on that ice.” But, IT WILL TURN AROUND …

Afterall, it is a business too and the benefit is that these great kids can have a future, on the ice if they put forth the effort, or in what profession they choose off the ice.

Good news possible new Head Coach and that the franchise will remain in Portland … and “we” in Portland will have to support the team by filling seats! Business-is-Business and to an owner it is not all “fun-and-games.”

    GO HAWKS GO!

Thanks for your great work and long time support of our team in Portland!

  6. THE TEAM JUST HAS TO START WINNING OR THEY WILL BRING UP THE REAR FOR A LONG TIME. IF THE TEAM CAN START TO WIN, THEN THE GOOD PLAYERS WILL BE MORE EAGER TO SIGN WITH PORTLAND. IN OTHER SPORTS, IF A TEAM HAS A TRADITION OF LOSING, IT TAKES FOREVER TO COME UP FROM THE CELLAR. NOTICE HOW THE BOSTON RED SOX HAVE NO PROBLEM SIGNING BIG NAME PLAYERS NOW. EVEN IF THEY DON’T WIN IT ALL, THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO. IN OUR LEAGUE, NOW THAT VANCOUVER IS WINNING EVERY YEAR NOW, THEY CAN BE AT THE TOP THE NEXT YEAR, EVEN IF THEY LOSE THEIR TOP 10 SCORERS FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR. PORTLAND MIGHT HAVE TO TRADE THAT #1 BANTAM PICK FOR THE ‘COLTON YELLOW-HORN TYPE” BIG NAME PLAYER. YOU CAN TELL BY THE ATTENDANCE NUMBERS THAT THEIR ARE MORE “FAIR WEATHER” FANS THAN YOU THOUGHT.
