Hawks Notes: Kelowna @ Portland – September 21, 2008

 

Previous Game – Spokane 3 @ Portland 0:  Dustin Tokarski stopped all 40 shots he faced to lead the Spokane Chiefs to a 3-0 victory over the Portland Winter Hawks on Saturday night in front of 3236 at the Memorial Coliseum.  Brett Bartman, Stefan Ulmer and Jared Cowen scored for Spokane with Mitch Wahl assisting on all three goals while David Conrad had two assists for the Chiefs.  Portland held the Chiefs without a shot for the first 17:47 of the opening period, but couldn’t find a way to beat Tokarski.  Portland wound up out-shooting the Chiefs 40-25 on the night.  Jordan White went the distance in net for Portland, stopping 22 of 25 shots in the loss.  On special teams, Spokane went 1 for 3 on the power play while the Hawks finished 0 for 5.

Team Notes:  Portland is (0-1-0-0); (0-1-0-0) at home; (0-0-0-0) on the road.  The Hawks last home win was on March 16, 2008, a 3-2 SO win over Spokane.  The last road win was on January 16, 2008, a 3-2 SO win over Prince George.

    I like the addition of the season highs and lows. It brings an aspect to the game…even when we do lose, we can look back and see the high points….There seems to be many. The boys seem to play hard night in and night out (most nights).
