On ice situation is fixed…… Now 1,000- 2,000 people a game needs attention and future business operations needs a lot of work in a Portland Metro recession….
Those are some pretty drastic changes and impressive numbers. Thanks for sharing. Let’s hope it continues for the other 3/4 of the season!
What can one say but “WOW” talk about night and day!
Thanks for doing that Andy.
It’s not just the Portland Metro……. Every team is going through some attendence issues right now. I can tell you in Seattle it’s just stale we draw 3,000 on Tuesday nights…. then only 3,000 on Friday and Saturday nights….Granted there is a lot of local competition ex. Seahawks… not to mention the city of Kent has 4 large high schools that have football games Friday’s and Saturdays……. It’s still no excuse for the lag. One thing I have noticed is really just coverage, King County used to have a paper dedicated to stuff in Southern King County but with that disbanded the Seattle Times barely mentions the T-birds. The Kent Reporter does a good job, but that only goes to Kent citizens……And from what I hear Portland’s papers barely mention anything if at all about the Hawks….. It seems that this really hurts trying to sell a minor league product to cities spoiled with professional teams……. Just my opinion though, teams like Everett, Vancouver, Kelowna, Brandon ect. all have dedicated sections and running newspapers dedicated solely to cover the WHL teams there. And they all remain consistant in brining in fans.
